Advocate at the Capitol!
Giving us the tools we need.In what has been called one of the steepest economic downturns, Rep. Lucio III has filed legislation that will give Texans with disabilities a new tool to succeed in business. H.B. 970 would allow people with disabilities to become a certified Historically Underutilized Business (HUB). A HUB certification is a powerful tool that would allow business owners with disabilities to do business with state agencies and universities that are constantly looking to work with businesses certified as HUBs. The goal of this good-faith effort is to actively involve HUBs in the Texas procurement process and ensure they receive a fair share of state business. Let’s stand behind Rep. Lucio and H.B. 970, giving us the tools we need to succeed. Community services waivers. The 81st legislature is kicking off with 88,000 unduplicated Texans on waivers that are still NOT receiving services. As a community it is imperative that we come together and advocate as one voice to end the waiting lists. |
