350 miles ... 7 days ... BY HAND!

Who is Mikail Davenport?

Mikail Davenport , a 56-year old native Texan, contracted polio at age two. In 2000, Mikail started competing in 5K, 10K, and marathon events; though impressive, these endurance events will pale in comparison to his longest challenge yet: the "Capitol Ride '05"! In 2002, Mikail conquered another daunting health challenge: cancer. Less than one year after doctors removed 1/3 of his left lung, Mikail successfully completed the 2003 Motorola Marathon.

Mikail is rigorously training for this long-distance endurance ride to raise awareness of the capability of cancer survivors and people with disabilities. He and a support team will travel through:

Harlingen
Kingsville
Robstown
Beeville
Kenedy
Seguin
San Marcos
Austin

to a glorious last mile up Congress Avenue finishing at the Texas State Capitol. Kids with disabilities from Blaze Sports Austin will join Mikail on Congress Avenue on the final leg of his journey.
